Cannabis Content
Overview

In recent years the cannabis industry has grown substantially, and recreational cannabis is now legal in numerous states and is a part of day-to-day life for many individuals. However, cannabis still remains illegal at the federal level. Today, Community’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), which also includes wireless carriers restrictions, prohibits Leaders from sharing content related to the sale, promotion, or use of illegal drugs. This includes products that contain either THC or CBD, as well as any accessory or product used to consume these chemicals. A violation may result in an immediate suspension of your Community number.

We monitor content shared via Community to identify messages that may violate our policies to help you avoid any disruptions to your business, and to ensure the safety of your followers. Attempts to circumvent this process and avoid review of your cannabis-related content may result in a suspension of your Community number. With that in mind, we want to provide you with additional resources to help navigate these policies and ensure your messages are delivered smoothly with minimal delays.

Prohibited Content:

You may not share content that advertises or promotes, or offers for sale

  • Products that contain cannabis, CBD, and/or THC, such as:
  • Flower;
  • Pre-rolls;
  • Concentrates;
  • Edibles;
  • Tinctures; or
  • Topicals.
  • Products associated with consuming cannabis, CBD, THC, such as:
  • Pipes/Bongs/bubblers;
  • Hookah, Unless explicitly discussing tobacco;
  • Rolling papers, unless explicitly discussing tobacco; or
  • Vapes.

It is also a violation of our policy to offer these products for free or as part of a promotional offer or event.

Allowed Content:

However, it is 2022 and we know that there is a lot of content that includes cannabis that is not directly related to the sale or promotion of cannabis products. Cannabis is frequently featured in popular movies, music, and other forms of media - including content created by some of our favorite Leaders. You are able to share content that discusses or highlights cannabis, the cannabis lifestyle, or media that happens to include cannabis with your followers who are 21+ years old via Community. This include content such as

  • Clothing and apparel: Cannabis references can appear on images of clothing shared via Community, or even on clothing products for sale on your website. However, clothing may not be used to mask the sale or promotion of cannabis or cannabis products.
  • Art, Movies, Music: Cannabis is often included in popular art, moves, TV shows, music videos, and lyrics. This type of content may be shared via Community as long as you are not promoting or offering any cannabis products that happen to be featured.
  • Events: We know that the cannabis lifestyle has many aspects, and there may be events that highlight portions of this lifestyle without promoting cannabis products themselves, such as concerts. You can share content related to these events, but be careful not to include any cannabis references within these materials and focus on the cultural aspects of the community.

News, articles, and scientific research: There is a great deal of information regarding cannabis available on the internet and you may share any articles or stories related to cannabis, cannabis products, benefits, side effects, and research.
